Registration nowadays comparing to 1950s-1960s

I still remember the first day when I came to Penn state on campus. It was January 13th 2013. Everything was new for me. I considered myself as a lucky student “I thought I have come to a place that life in that place at the summit of evolution” talking with myself. I had measured everything to registration process such as teaching methods and dealing with a problem, and etc. How was the process amazing and easy!. I finished everything online. First, I went to HUB building to register and taking Penn State student ID which took less than thirty minutes. Then I went to the Laboratory in the first floor of Boucke building to activate the ID just by swiping the card to a swiper. The whole process took less than two hours. There was not any routing process such as copy papers or hand filling application or..etc.Since I completed the registration process, I had being curious to know about how was that process going in the past. This is because these stuffs that exist nowadays such as computer, internet, and etc, were not available.
Fortunately, with my classmate in the IECP last two weeks I had a chance to visit Foxdale village, which is a retirement community. There I met a senior woman who is name Emily Filling. She is from California and was Penn State student at 1950s. When she asked me how do you feel with on campus life? I responded her "it is wonderful and life is fast there". When we had a conversation about on campus life, I took advantage of the time to figure out the question in my mind.
- “Mrs. Emily, do you remember your first day on campus or registration day?" I asked.
- “Oh yeah, it was nice but was not like today”.
- How was it different from nowadays? I asked.
- (chuckle) “I went to on campus three days in a row just for registration. The students were classified for registration by their last name letters and study years. The first day I thought I am a lucky because my last name starts with F, so I will be in the beginning of the line. Then the staff told your last name letter is not enough, but we look at year student as well. Tomorrow will be for freshman and sophomore student” she explained.
Her description for registration process at that time, led me to make some researches about it. I found some articles and pictures about registration in that time which are interesting and different from now. According to the article Registration Begins Today for 11,500, (Daily Collegian, Sept 16, 1953) the registration was starting in Recreation Hall (Rec Hall) instead of HUB building. Unlike today, in 1950s-1960s there was not computer. Instead of that, a lot of Penn State staffs had sat on a long line of tables for helping student to complete their registration. Also, in that time there were some routines during registration process. For example, students had to fill out an application form before entering Rec Hall. Another example for routines at that time, after registration, they had to go to Willard building for a copy of Bursar's receipt (La Vie 1962, page 102).
In short, the registration process has developed comparing to the middle of the last century. Nowadays registration is completed online while students in the past had suffered from hand filling forms and waiting some days just for registration.

A summery of today's reading extensive:

In the end of the colony's period, American started to establish independence judicial . In the beginning they created some new kind of courts such as small claims courts, juvenile courts, and domestic courts. The legislators started to make new laws for those new courts. Although, this process was faced some difficulties by some of lawyers and judges, the process became successful . This  against was because some of them considered as a hard work to learn these new laws others had not wanted to improve judicial authorities in the States because they had put in their positions by the colonel power.

First of all, I wish Ruth did not ask us to say something here about this trip because I have a feeling which can never be explained with few words. Honestly I had never expected that place, people, atmosphere, etc as great as. I thought because they all are senior we cannot enjoy the trip, but actually I was totally wrong. They were friendly, happy, active people. Also, things we can learn from those people never ever we can learn from books. This is because they are experienced people. I consider them as a life guide book which walks on the earth. They are an ocean of experience. They are a gold generation.
Indeed, a wonderful feeling that is non describable with words was when my interviewee asked me to go to see her home. I cannot describe the home during this comment cause needs more than an essay. Everything that I saw there had a meaning to me.
The first moment when I walked with her to the table during that short walking I was really concern.  Starting conversation with myself " Oh God how should I deal with this senior woman, how should I take into account her feeling during this forty minutes, etc." . These all questions were grown in my mind, but when we were sitting I soon realized how she a friendly person is. Actually, my recommendation for other IECP students, please don't devote all the times to asking them. However, give them enough time to talk because I think most of them have a lot of thing to say as a result of non-meeting people often. It is such as an opportunity for them. Also, I wish teachers will absorb this situation.
In the end, If you ask me what is your most wonderful day since you have started this semester iN the IECP, I am going to tell you “today's trip”.

I'm sorry to long respond, but comparing with my feeling this is like no thing.

Today I read a brief about American legal system at the era of colonialism. According to the book, they had damaged American Courts by interference in the judiciary affairs and appointment of the judges. Fortunately after revolution and writing the constitution the courts were kind of independent.

"Magistrate judges are appointed by the judges of this district court for eight-year terms of office," (Out line of the U.S legal system, 2008, page 40)

It is a amazing system. While in the most of the countries in the world judges do not leave their jobs until they die or unexpected circumstances, in the U.S legal system for judges there is specified period to work in the courts. This is because by this way we can avoid judges and court from administrative corruption , and control courts by some judges for a long time

Today when I read the authority of judicial branch in the U.S, I was thinking deeply may that is why the U.S.A has this development. For this reason I stopped reading for a few minutes and comparing between judicial branch in the U.S comparing with some other countries. I had a wonderful feeling because this is gave me reassurance that my rights reserved here.

the most interesting thing during my today's reading extensive was the ratification process of the law by the president of the united states. This was interesting to me because it gives some authority to the president although the authorities have devided between three authorities in the U.S.A. Thats why the president so important to the states because he has a authority to accept or reject the laws.
