"Magistrate judges are appointed by the judges of this district court for eight-year terms of office," (Out line of the U.S legal system, 2008, page 40)

It is a amazing system. While in the most of the countries in the world judges do not leave their jobs until they die or unexpected circumstances, in the U.S legal system for judges there is specified period to work in the courts. This is because by this way we can avoid judges and court from administrative corruption , and control courts by some judges for a long time

  1. Nice words Mariwan

Yes, I agree with you at some point, it is a good idea that judges have a limited time, otherwise they will abuse their authority.

    Best,

  3. I agree with you on this interpretation, but there are different legal systems in the US, (Federal, State), I think there are some judges in the US where they serve for life! The legal system in the US is so complicated that I wish to change my major. However, as you said it is amazing system.

  4. Interesting quote and information to know.
I profoundly agree with the rule.Beside the point you mentioned about administrative corruption, being a judge is really stressful. it is about being in control and responsible for dramatic changes in other people's lives and sometimes it can be a life and death matter. So, I think the four years rule is really good because it will allow more qualified people to make the decision.

    warm regards
